Newsletter - 2023

It's been quite a while since a newsletter has been put together, as a lot has happened in recent years, most notably is the New Rescue Boat, work done on the Start Barge, Insurance etc.

Many thanks to all the volunteers behind the scenes working diligently in getting all the relevant permits to be able to get back to racing; they have spent a great deal of time and effort to get things rolling along.

On Sunday 15-10-2023 the VDBC took Rescue 1 out for a run and did a Capsule sink and retrieval test, it did the job nice and quickly, the capsule had around 70kg of sand bags to represent the weight of a driver, it was then lowered into the water and sunk, then lifted out and placed back onto the deck of the rescue boat, the winch and trolley worked perfectly, I was invited to come over and take some pictures as shown below.

Many thanks to the boys who took some time in their busy schedules to get things ready for the up and coming races… Our next race meeting is on Sunday 21st of January 2024, Bring it On!

Boat Scrutineering

Scrutineering will be available on Saturday before our race meeting from 1pm – 4pm at the National Water Sports Centre prior to Sunday’s race meeting.

If you cannot make it down to the National Water Sports Centre on the Saturday prior, a second round of scrutineering will take place on race day between 8am – 9am.

All competitors and boats⁄jet skis need to be in the pits by 9am.
Drivers need to be ready for briefing at 9:30am (boats having already been scrutineered)

It is preferable that you have your boats scrutineered on Saturday as it frees up some time for our staff on race day.
